I wear the same makeup to work, time and time again. Yes, it’s boring but I won’t be swayed. My mornings are less frantic, I know my makeup will last all day and I’ve got application down to 10 minutes. If you’re looking to simplify your morning makeup routine without sacrificing the final look, here’s a glimpse at my go-to products, in application order:
MAC Strobe Cream – I’m all for quick application in the morning so there’s no time for layering too many products, so I mix this with my foundation and apply together. Strobe Cream gives a beautiful subtle glow that keeps you looking healthy and awake all day.
Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation or Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation – I adore both of these foundations and frankly whichever I pick up first is what I’ll go for that day. Both leave my skin looking even and dewy and are medium coverage foundations that are buildable, with impressive staying power.
Bobbi Brown Corrector in Light Bisque – This is one of my newest makeup finds and I don’t know how I’ve gone so long without it! This is THE product for making you look awake and getting rid of darkness under the eyes – it’s quickly become one of my must-haves and if you haven’t used this get, go and try it asap.
Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer Kit – I often use this concealer on top of the Bobbi corrector as naturally they complement each other nicely. I also love the setting powder in the kit which helps my concealer stay put all day. Somedays I find the combination of all three (corrector, concealer and powder) a little heavy so will either use the corrector and the powder alone, or swap in the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer as it’s more of a liquid concealer and a tad lighter on the skin.
Benefit Boiing Concealer – This bad boy only comes out when I need some serious blemish help, so suffice to say during the first week of every month this is one of my staples! Hormonal breakouts are horrid but this makes life a little easier, and the formula is antibacterial which helps too. You can read my full review of this concealer if you want more info.
Benefit KaBrow – Benefit can’t be beaten on brows. FACT. I used to be a loyal daily user of Benefit BrowZings until this came out. It’s waterproof formula means once it’s on, it’s not budging and I love how natural or dramatic you can get your brows with this product. I have a full post on my brow routine if you want an extra read.
Benefit Creamy Eyeshadow in Bunny Hop – This is a classic case of a product that’s a true oldie but I just can’t let it go – I’m actually pretty sure this shade has been discontinued. This cream eyeshadow makes a great base for shadow and has a wonderful blue undertone so makes the whites of your eyes whiter.
Fleur de Force Lunar Rose Palette – I bought this palette from Feel Unique recently and I use the two top shades all the time, especially during the week for work. They look lovely over the top of the Bunny Hop cream shadow and are perfectly toned to strike the balance between being professional but not bland – they’re subtle and gorgeous at the same time! It’s also super easy to take your day look into the evening by dragging some of the dark purple along lash line for some added drama.
Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara – I normally skip liner on a normal work day but this mascara has me covered and makes sure my eyes look wide awake. The formula is totally buildable so if you want something quite dramatic you can get it easily but I tend to just do a few zig zags on each eye and I’m done.
Rimmel Kate Sculpting Palette in Coral Glow – This sculpting palette is MAGIC, there’s no other word for it and I use all three products – bronzer, blush and highlight – for my office makeup. The bronzer has a subtle shimmer and is fab for a gentle contour or just warming up the face. The blush is a light rose pink (it reminds me of Benefit’s Dandelion – review & swatches here), and I just pop a bit on the apples of my cheeks before highlighting my cheek bones, brow bone and cupids bow with the highlight.
Carmex – I normally don’t go for much on my lips for work as I just can’t be bothered to reapply during the day. Instead, I lather up with some faithful Carmex which then means my lips are in good condition for bold lipsticks at the weekend! It’s a win win.
Let me know what your go-to work makeup products are in the comments and whether you use any of the products I swear by! Don’t forget to tell me why you love them too.
Sincerely, Sarah xx
